Chapter Text

Morro: I swear these askers are trying to tell us something. First Lloyd, then you *gestures to Wu*, and now me? What is this, some kind of code?

Wu: *stays uncannily silent, sipping on a cup of tea*

Morro: *side-eyes Wu suspiciously* Whatever. Well, whoever “movie Morro” and “show Morro” are, my introduction to Wu was pretty straightforward. *crossed his arms and leans back against the chair* He found me, took me in, then eventually adopted me.

Wu: *sets the teacup on a side table next to him* It was the morning of a great storm. The village near my dojo had not received much of the initial rain, but the river upstream had gotten so much that its banks could not contain it all. It ended up causing a flash flood that raged through and destroyed much of the village. I arrived just as the waters swept through the central marketplace.

Morro: When the flood came, it kinda swept me along with it before my clothes got caught on a sharp branch in a barely-standing tree. *scoffs* Ever been waterboarded by a river at seven years old? Not recommended.

Wu: I had been helping others make it to safety on the sturdier rooftops when I saw Morro in the distance, and I immediately made my way to him. It took a little while to get him to stop struggling, but eventually he was freed and I carried him back to the nearest roof.

Morro: I only let you because I recognized you. I’d swiped stuff from your market basket several times before, though I know now it’s because you let me snag what I did…

Wu: Would you have allowed me to simply give it to you? *picks up the teacup again and takes a sip to hide a small smile*

Morro: *scowls sheepishly* …n-no…

Wu: Then you cannot blame me for doing what I could to make sure a child would be fed.

Morro: …conniving old man… Anyways, he took me home and nursed me back to health, and here we are. I’m going home now.
