Summary
More than thirty years have passed since Veldrin and his companions vanquished the Cult of the Absolute. While the people close to him retired from adventuring or built a new life for themselves, the drow exile remained a wanderer, forever restless. When the Hero of Baldur’s Gate begins to experience mysterious visions calling him to the distant Cold Lands, he heeds their call. It is, afterall, sort of a melancholic homecoming for him. He is joined by Halsin’s and Shadowheart’s daughter Leandreth, who wishes to escape her parents’ overprotective embrace, and Rolan’s kobold apprentice, Zillix, who seeks to unlock the secrets of transforming herself into a true dragon.
New challenges and foes await them, and yet a familiar face of an old adversary long thought vanquished unexpectedly greets Veldrin soon after reaching the grand city of Lyrabar, half-way across the world. Raphael is seemingly stuck in his human form, mortal, after decades of torture at his father’s hands. Why he was released now, here of all places, and almost devoid of all his old powers is a question neither the drow or the former devil can answer.
