They tell me I'm a god, I'm lost in the façade

Dream revives Tommy

Notes:

I do not condone c!Dream's behavior! I just think he's a funky little man that you can shove into boxes to make AUs fit. Such as this one.

Work Text:

He figured it was time. It had been two days, and while the quiet was nice, he wanted his Tommy back. His body had started to decompose, and Dream figured he would start the second phase soon, which he wasn't too thrilled about. The heat would probably accelerate any changes, so he had even less time.

And so Dream carefully picked Tommy up from where he had been, sat by the lava, and laid Tommy down in his lap. He would want the comfort, the heat from the lava, and Dream could more easily burn the book. It was a win for everyone.

Dream laid the book on Tommy, the words having already been written, and waited for the book to accept the subject it was meant to revive. After around 5 minutes, it was ready and he tossed the book into the lava, activating it.

Tommy's body gained a gentle, white glow, prominent against the constant orange glow from the lava. Dream carded his hands through his hair, which noticably had a section glowing brighter than the rest.

It would be so nice to have Tommy back. Dream missed him, he missed his Tommy, who was so exuberant, who would give Dream a reason to get up, who would bring color to such a monotonous world.

Tommy started to breathe. Shallow at first, but it was getting deeper. Moving one hand to his neck revealed a pulse, steadily increasing.

"Tommy, Tommy wake up."

And then he woke up. Tommy was successfully revived.

"Hello? Tommy, you okay?" He seemed to be out of it, and Dream wasn't sure if it was a side effect of the revival or not.

Tommy reached up to touch his shoulder. That seemed to make something register in his mind, as Tommy then tried to sit up out of Dream's reach.

He had just gotten his Tommy back, he wasn't going to let him go. And so he moved Tommy into more of a sitting position, Tommy struggling all the while. For some reason he was trying to get away from Dream, his resurrector. And he was starting to thrash. So Dream pinned his arms to his sides, and just held him. It was kind of like they were cuddling! It was nice.

It clicked in his mind. Dream's first successful human revival. He brought back Tommy. He can bring back Tommy. He never has to worry about Tommy leaving him. He was actually a god.

"So, what was it like?"
