Work Text:
Failure
That's what her dad and Raef thought about her once she started taking those pills after Allegra was born. She had tried, really tried to shake off the postpartum depression without help.
Juliet hadn't meant to embarrass them with her weakness. She could no longer breastfeed and Raef had been open with his disappointment over that.
To her and the doctor. Juliet had wanted to die when the doctor looked at her with pity. She didn't understand Raef expected perfection, the same way her father did. Juliet failed to achieve it for them.
Juliet loved Allegra, she really did. But if things kept on the way they were she was sure that she'd give onto the urge to hurt herself. To fade into nothing. What good would that do Allegra?
But it has changed how Raef looked at her. The talk of four or five children had stopped. An occasional comment of maybe it would be nice for Allegra to have a sibling still got brought up.
Juliet was sure that was her father pushing though, he had always wanted a male hair. Her mother had never delivered one, it was Juliet duty to ensure he had a grandson.
