Chapter Text
So. School was a nightmare, and frankly quite boring. Nineteen knew this, without a doubt. She'd been going to school for 11 years, of course she knew this! But yeesh, this was a new level. Maybe it was just the stress of moving to a new town, but she swore that everyone was watching her. Okay- maybe not EVERYONE, that much was just true logically. There was only around 15, maybe 16 people in the hall in total, and it was a long hall. Plus, most people weren't even facing her direction. Still, she was anxious. She combed through her hair with her fingers and took a breath, before feeling a hand on her shoulder. She flinched and practically shoved herself in her locker before she saw who it was.
"You scared me!" Nineteen scolded, huffing in annoyance.
"Sorry, Sorry- Are you alright?" Seventeen asked, "You looked a bit stressed- I know this school can be a lot, but I promise it's not that bad." he reassured.
"I get that, I'm just... really stressed out, right now," Nineteen sighed. "I'm sure this place is at least decent, but I can't help but feel like I'm being watched, you know?"
At that, Seventeen giggled. Not a mocking one, just a playful one. "I can personally assure you, nobody is watching you except maybe some girl that thinks your hair is pretty but is too shy to say it, okay?" Seventeen gently patted Nineteen's shoulder.
Nineteen laughed at that. "I highly doubt my hair is that pretty," she doubted. "But I'd be lying if I didn't admit it was cute." Her hair was almost a wolf cut, in a nice grey color. Her hair was often attention grabbing which, while she wasn't a fan of being watched, she had to admit the compliments were nice whenever they came.
Before Seventeen could begin to respond, the bell rang. "Well, guess that's our cue to separate. Uh, what's your first period, again?"
"Math, unfortunately," Nineteen practically groaned as she shut her locker.
"Oh, sorry about that," Seventeen comforted. "Uh, I have History, which I've never been great at, if that helps at all."
"Yeah well, let's get going," Nineteen sighed, resigned to her fate. "See you at lunch?"
"Of course! Goodbye!" Seventeen beamed, before running off.

It surprised no one that Nineteen was late, seeing as she'd never been here before. It also came as no surprise that math class was boring as all hell. Nineteen spent most of the time doodling in her sketchbook, and only paying enough attention to not fail. The class was fairly uneventful, at least until the teacher got distracted from teaching and just started talking about rectangles for 30 minutes.
"Psst..." A voice from behind her whispered. Nineteen ignored it, instead continuing the sketch of a silly cow she was drawing.
"Psst!.." The voice tried again.
Nineteen let out an annoyed huff, before looking behind herself. "Did you need something?" she whispered.
"Hi! I'm Eighteen, are you new here, you seem new here?" Eighteen chattered. The speed of his voice was a tad overwhelming, and it took Nineteen a moment to realize what he said.
"Uh- Yeah I'm new... why are you asking?" She asked cautiously.
"Oh I just wanted to know, I've never seen you before! Where are you from?"
"Huh, oh I'm from-"
"Eighteen, Nineteen, please don't interrupt me while I'm speaking."
"Sorry Mr. Forty." They said in sync with each other.
Nineteen turned back towards her book, attempting to finish her drawing. But she couldn't focus, not with Eighteen clicking his tongue and whistling randomly.
"Hey, can you stop?" She huffed, her pencil grating through the paper. Eighteen looked a bit startled, but he quickly regained his composure.
"Oh uh, yeah of course I can! My bad-" Eighteen looked as though he bit his tongue as soon as he stopped talking. Nineteen didn't really focus on this, just happy to have some peace and quiet for once.

Nineteen did remember to apologize once class was over. Eighteen seemed to understand, thankfully, but she still felt bad. Nineteen herself has some "annoying" stims that could probably bother people, and she didn't think it was fair of her to get so snappy with Eighteen for something he very likely can't control, at least not as easily as other people.
Whatever the case, Nineteen figured it wasn't worth beating herself up over, especially with how chill with it Eighteen seemed to be. Her next few classes were just as boring as the first, but at least the teachers were chill. So far she was mostly annoyed by how slow the day seemed to be going. Lunch was fairly uneventful, but she got to talk with Seventeen again, at least. "So, you're saying the music teacher used to be a famous rock star?" Nineteen asked, after swallowing the last of her pizza. It was shockingly good, but this school was all-around pretty fancy, so she wasn't surprised.
"Apparently! Her name is Fifty. I don't personally take her classes but one of my friends does," Seventeen chirped.
"Interesting- This school's teachers are one of the only fun things about it, to be honest." Nineteen looked around. Most kids were mind their own business, only a few were having any conversations. Nineteen's eyes were pulled to a kid in the corner. He had yellow hair and a lot of acne. He also looked pretty lonely, and it made her heart hurt for him. "Hey, Seventeen? Who's that kid?" she asked, hoping he'd know but not making any promises.
"Huh? Oh, I think his name is Thirteen. He showed up here a few weeks ago, and still hasn't quite settled in I don't think. I'm not that close to him, so I can't tell you much." Seventeen answered, being careful with his words.
"Hm... I'll uh, be right back," she said, getting out of her seat and walking over to him.
