It's been to long since you've last seen Yamato. So it is more then understandable when you practically jump off your boat as soon as it docked to go find him.
Aftter the Strawhats liberated Wano from Kaido you decided to head out to see the world like you always wanted. You had asked Yamato if he wanted to come with you but he chose to stay back to help protect Wano which you fully understand and accepted despise your disappointment.
Everyone and everything looks more alive and happy then you've ever seen it making your already massive smile grow. They have been doing an amazing job in bring Wano back to it's former glory. Kaido did a lot of damage during his time here but it wasn't enough to squish out all of the hope of the people and seeing kids running around playing, shop keepers happily selling their goods, and people just peacefully going about their day proved that.
There is still a long long way to go but this is amazing progress to make in less then a year.
The calls Yamato made to you ranting about how everything was coming along truly didn't do it all justice.
As you walk street to street you begin to slightly regret not telling Yamato you were coming back. You wanted to suprise him by showing up when he least expected it but he is proving to be harder to find then you initially thought he would be given how tall, loud, handsome, and easy to spot he usually is.
"Oh my! Look who has finally returned!" Someone calls from behind you and you turn to see Ms. Kurohana, a small old woman who you had spent quite a lot of time with growing up.
"Hi Ms. Kurohana" while you greet her your eyes a still darting around to see if your could catch a glimpse of Yamato.
"I assume the reason you're running around like a headless chicken is because you're looking for your boyfriend?" She says teasingly causing you to flush and rub the back of your neck.
You better you did look a little stupid running around the way you were.
"Yes… do you know where he is?" You ask with a soft embarrassed laugh. You would be a lot more embarrassed if someone other then Ms. Kurohana had caught you like this but you are so used to her seeing ever part of you that any genuine full blow embarrassment is almost impossible to feel around her.
"He's at your home, he always goes there when he has free time to be around things that remind him of you" the grin on her face as she watches your face get a even darker shade of red as you blink at her in suprise proves to you that she knew that you would have a strong reaction to what she said.
You knew he missed you just as much as you missed him but to know that he spent all his free time at your home being around you things so he can have a constant reminder of you near him made your heart expand.
"Oh um ok thank you Ms. Kurohana" you give her a bow as you try to soothe the heat in your face "I'll catch up with you soon" with that you stop bowing and spin on your heels to start making your way over to your home.
"Take as long as you need dear!"
The walk to your house from the main street you were on didn't take long but you almost got lost a few times with how different it looked. This area used to be in disrepair with buildings almost caving in on themselves from wear and purposeful destruction by the Beast Pirates. To see it in such a better state was… both amazing and saddening. You wish you were here to see this improvement but your need for the sea overpowered all else and everyone understood that.
As you reach your door you hear faint noises from inside and you feel a rush of worry hit you. Did you look good? Did you stink of salt and fish? Were your clothes presentable?
No I need to stop. Thinking like this will only sour out reunion!
Taking a deep breath you slowly open the door and step in. Almost everything is how you left ot save for the pile of blankets on your floor which if the movement that was under them said anything contained Yamato under them.
The laugh you suppress almost slips out as a snort but you catch it before it does as you slowing make your way closer trying to not make any noise as to not alert him to your presence.
No matter hos long you were gone how cute you find Yamato all the time will never change.
Now that your closer you can see the very tips of his horns peaking out from the blanket and hear his quite snores. The position he's in does not look comfortable even with the blankets covering most of him. Sitting down next to him you watch as he squirms around under the blankets like he always does when sleeping a huge fond smile on your face.
"Yamato…" you call out gently, placing your hand over where you guessed his head is. He made a small noise that sounded similar to your name but was to muffled by the blankets to actually make out "Hey, wake up, I'm back"
The sudden abrupt motion from Yamato spooked you a little. There's a blanket stuck on one of his horns and another still on his shoulders, you can't help but laugh at him now with how goofy he looks.
He blinks at you owlishly for a few short moments before launching himself at you without any hesitation and pulling you into a tight hug.
"Baby!" He squeals excitedly squeezing you so tightly that the air is pushed out of your lungs. "When did you get back?!"
"Like twenty minutes ago I think? I wanted to suprise you" you press a kiss to his cheek as you speak missing the feeling of his skin against your lips.
"Well this is the best suprise ever!" He says in between exited laughs and following your lead he begins covering your face in kisses.
He starts at your forehead slowly making his way down to your nose.
"Yeah?" You ask softly as you giggle at his assault of kisses. You don't even know if he will respond because that would mean he would have to slow down with the kisses being pressed to your left cheek.
"Duh! I missed you so much I can't even put it into words" he emphasizes his words by giving you another squeeze.
"I have a idea of how you can show me how much you've missed me" you hum leaning into his kisses happily.
"How?" He asks but still doesn't stop retracing where he had placed kisses before.
"Keep kissing me till we fall asleep" you pull back just enough to make him stop so you can finally kiss him on the lips. Its different from the kisses on your face, its slow and loving and filled with all the words you both haven't gotten around to saying yet and if this was the last kiss you would ever receive from Yamato you would be happy.
You only part when there is no more air left in either of your lungs. Yamato gives you the most love sick smile that you cant help but reciprocate.
"I can do that"
