POV: First Person (Gadget)
I boarded the Gadgetmobile plane smoothly, unlike usual, when accidents can sometimes occur. We had arrived in Ireland, according to the mission destination. According to the briefing, there was a MAD headquarters in Ireland. We still had no idea what it was for.
“Privates, let’s split up to look for the MAD headquarters. Please use your motherboards to scan the area.” We were outside the Gadgetmobile. I explained our purpose here.
I pointed at them one by one. “Digit, you will check the southwest. Fidget, you will check the southeast. And I will check the north.”
They nodded.
“Alright. If you need help or have found it, don’t forget to communicate. Got it?” I asked to make sure they understood.
They nodded.
“If there are no questions, let’s split up.” I walked north, then activated the detection sensor on my left arm. It was supposed to tell me where the MAD headquarters was.
I was enjoying it a bit. I knew this mission was serious, but I didn’t want to get carried away by the tension. I looked around. Wowsers, it was different from Metro City.
I had walked quite a distance. Then suddenly, I thought about calling my Privates. I turned on the phone call function from my detection sensor.
“Have you found anything?” I asked.
They shook their heads.
“We haven’t found it yet, Lieutenant,” Digit reported.
“Alright. If you guys find something suspicious, please tell me.” I told them again.
They nodded.
I turned off the phone call. Then I turned on the detection sensor to find the MAD headquarters.
I kept walking. I kept searching. And suddenly, I stopped.
“Why didn’t I fly?” I slapped my forehead. I just realized. If I just walked, this would take a long time.
“Go-Go-Gadget Copter.” A propeller emerged from my hat. I flew while controlling my copter. Besides that, I also focused on the detection sensor on my left arm. It was hard because I had to focus on many things. First—
“Wowsers!” I lost control of the copter, so I fell. I hit a tree.
I was stuck in a tree. My copter was broken. I couldn’t use it.
My head felt hurt, so I touched my head, trying to drown out the pain. My body also felt sore. Even though some parts of my body were machines, I could still feel pain.
Then I glanced at the building. From what I could see, it looked like an abandoned building that hadn’t been abandoned for long. Maybe just a few months.
I tried to get down, but unfortunately, I fell again into the bushes.
“Ouch!”
I was already inside the building. Actually, I was still on the ground floor. I looked around. The lights in this building were still on. If the lights were on, there was electricity. If there was electricity, that meant someone was using this building. I knew it! It was a new MAD headquarters.
I immediately reported to my Privates. I turned on the phone call function from my detection sensor.
“Fidget, Digit, can you hear me?” I asked, trying to make sure I was connected to their signal.
“Loud and clear, Lieutenant!” Fidget reported.
“Good,” I said.
Suddenly, the light above my head flickered. The screen of my sensor also started glitching.
I frowned. “Digit?! Fidget?!”
The lights suddenly went out.
What the hell was it?
I automatically looked up. All the lights were completely off, even though everything else was still on.
I looked at my detection sensor.
Call disconnected.
“Oh dear...” My right foot took a step back.
I tried calling them again, but to no avail. I couldn’t reach them.
I frowned and swallowed hard.
Oh no.
Bad news.
Suddenly, someone grabbed me from behind. I was shocked. My body was lifted slightly. I tried to wiggle my legs to break free.
“LET ME—”
Something was placed over my face, cutting off my words. I breathed in and immediately felt strange. Or maybe... sleepy?
“What is it?” I hissed. I couldn’t think clearly.
“Sleep well, Gadget,” someone whispered from behind me.
“Huh?”
My vision became blurry.
I fell asleep.
I started to regain consciousness. My body still hurt from falling twice. I slowly opened my eyes. This place was very strange. Where was I?
I tried to sit up.
CLACK.
I was shocked. The sound made my eyes widen. I wasn't sleepy anymore.
My body felt heavy. Wait... I checked my wrists and ankles. What was this?! I was tied up in chains?!
I tried to pull my hand up.
CLACK!
This chain was quite strong. Even when I pulled it, it remained firm. Wait—Gadget, this was metal, not rope.
I stood up. I tried to pull myself away, but it was no use. It only made me hurt more. I knew I was a cyborg, but the metal around my wrists and ankles could still be scratched by the friction from the chains.
I looked around. It was just me here. Nobody else was here. There was just a bed, and wait... what was that? A torture device?
Oh no.
And then there was only one door, with a small window above it.
I tried to scream, “HELP! SOMEONE! CAN ANYONE HEAR ME?!”
Suddenly, I heard someone's footsteps. The footsteps grew louder and louder.
The door opened. The person who entered was familiar.
A MAD Agent?!
“Shut up!” he snapped.
I tried to gather my courage. I sighed and tried to calm myself down.
“Where am I?” I asked.
“That's not your business,” he answered flatly.
“Of course it is! What do you mean, this is not my business?!” I tried to defend myself.
He sighed. From the look on his face, I could tell he was losing his patience.
Suddenly, he grabbed my shoulder and pushed me onto the bed. Of course, I was shocked. I tried to control my breathing.
“I said shut up!” he warned me again.
I winced and hissed. His push and the force of his grip on my shoulder caused me pain. This pain was already enough from when I fell. Please don't add to it.
He stopped holding my shoulder. Then he walked towards the door. I wasn't sure if he had just closed the door or if he had also locked it. I could only watch as he left. My body still ached.
Then he took the torture device. From what I could see, it was an electric shock device.
Oh no...
I swallowed hard.
He walked towards me, carrying the electric shock device.
“Lie down,” he ordered me as he turned on the device.
“NOO!” I protested.
“Why?” he asked. Honestly, the tone of his voice was scary.
“There are many cables behind me,” I told him. Of course, an electric shock device could be dangerous if it came into contact with my cables. And please, don't forget that I was a cyborg.
The MAD Agent fell silent. I was sure he didn't believe me.
“I'm serious!” I insisted.
Suddenly, he flipped me over onto my stomach. Of course, I was shocked by the sudden movement. He put my hands above my head and moved the chains away from under my body.
“Don't.” I was serious.
He ignored my words. He suddenly brought the electric shock device to the back of my neck.
I was instantly shocked.
“AAAAAAAAAAAA!”
Then he stopped.
My breathing was irregular, but I was thankful that the incident hadn't lasted very long. He immediately left me.
I couldn't move, so I could only watch him leave the room. Even though it was only for a moment, the shock felt extraordinary. I couldn't move my body. It seemed that I was temporarily paralyzed. My neck, arms, and legs wouldn't move.
What a shame.
My body felt so tired. First I fell, then I got electrocuted.
So rude!
I decided to go to sleep.
Again.
What else could I do? My body was temporarily immobile. I hoped that when I woke up, my body would be able to move properly.
I woke up. I was still wincing in pain from everything that had happened to my body. I tried to sit up, and my left hand touched my head. The sound of the chains hitting the bed was still there. It felt like I was still in the same place. The sky was getting dark. It was night now.
I tried to get up. Finally, my body started to function again.
Not long after, a MAD Agent came to bring me food. He gave it to me. I couldn't believe that this organization still cared about me. I thought they would abandon me.
He left. I looked at the food. Not bad, but of course my cooking was tastier. Who cooked this? Dr. Claw?
I chuckled.
I didn't care. I started eating it. Yeah, it was good. I'd rather eat than die.
Suddenly, I remembered my Gadgetinis! I put my food next to me. Then I turned on the phone call function from my detection sensor.
It was loading. That wasn't normal.
The call couldn't be reached.
Oh no.
I tried again, but it still didn't work.
I was sure it was because MAD had blocked the signal from my body. For now, I just gave up. There was nothing I could do. My body was still recovering. If I kept pushing myself, it would only hurt more.
I continued eating. I hoped the Gadgetinis were okay.
Wait- what about the Gadgetmobile?
